“THE BREAKAWAY” DANCE

Following is the second in a series of three lessons designed to teach “The Breakwav,” illustrated on this page, sensational new jazz dance created by Sue Carol in "Fox Movietone Follies of 1929,” coming to an Auckland Theatre shortly. By examining the photographs and diagrams as you read the text you can learn this fascinating dance in your own home. The steps are danced to

the words and music of “The Break- f away,” song hit in “Fox Follies,” written by Conrad. Mitchell and Gottler. Clip these lessons and save them. (4) Facing to the front, feet apart, hands at sides, describe small circles with the hands, right to left, feet describing similar circles in unison with the hands. (5) Start on left foot, toe, . heel, stamp with right foot. Repeat ‘ twice, and then heavy stamp left and ! heavy stamp right. (6) Bending for- • ward from the waist, cup hands to 5 eyes as shown in photograph. Bend J

(6c) Stamp left foot, stamp right. stamp left, turning to side on third stamp, left hand going out in an overhand slapping movement simultaneously.
