“THE LAST WARNING”
MYSTERY STORY FOR MAJESTIC Next Friday will see the premiere in the Majestic Theatre of “The Last Warning/* a Universal talking picture adapted from the famous mystery play of the same name, based on the popular novel by Wadsworth Camp. It
is a real thriller, with Laura La Plante in the leading role, directed by Paul Leni, who directed Miss La Plante in “The Cat and the Canary” last season’s screen thriller. Appearing with Miss La Plante in “The Last Warning” is a strong cast, including
Montagu Love, Roy D’Arcy, Margaret Livingston. John Boles. Bert Roach, Burr Mclntosh and a dozen or more other principals. The picture was supervised by Carl Laemmle, junr., and is guaranteed to give creepy spines to the most sophisticated audience. The story deals with a theatre which has been closed for five years because of the mysterious death of a popular actor. Suddenly, an attempt is made to put on the same play in which he met his death, with the original cast as far as possible. The ghost of the murdered star seems to haunt the theatre. Strange and fearful things happen during rehearsals. Mysterious warnings threaten the actors. The opening night is a riot of chills and thrills with a smashing climax. The dialogue, taken right from the play, plus the mysterious sounds, screams and other effects, make the picture a veritable breath-taker, according to advance reports. It is the best mystery picture ever made, critics assert.
