LURE OF GOLD
QUEUE FORMS IN QUEEN STREET SUN’S £IOO OFFER The offer of The Sun to add £IOO of alluvial gold to the first, second or third prize ticket in the Aero Club Art Union, was responsible for a queue in Queen Street this morning A condition of the offer was that the ticket must be purchased at The Sun No. 1 Branch, 113 Queen Street. Today and Monday offers the last opportunity. From early morning the office was packed. Young and old, rich and poor, men, women and children —they crowded the office and packed the street. Inside, perspiring clerks worked at high speed. The lure of wealth had possessed Aucklanders. The sight of good, rich gold in the window was too much for passers-by. Attracted, they stopped, felt in their pockets —and to the psychological influence of the crowd of would-be purchasers. For, after all, the cause is a good cause, and who knows who may be the lucky winner, and an extra £IOO is very acceptable.
