THE SUE’S Sydney Correspondent SYDNEY, October T. "Sweet NeM'a Luck 1 ' When George Musgrove died in 1916 nobody bothered to take probate of his trill. It did not seem worth while. The fairy goddess Luck had deserted him. Fortunes had been made onlv to be lost again. Nellie Stewart, still Australia's "Sweet Nell.” who was associated with him for so manv years, will now apply for probate. It appears that Musgrove owned the rights of "Sweet Kitty Bellairs,” wrr ten in 1903 by Ifavid Belasco. which a picture company now proposes converting into a talkie. Before a licence can be issued for it. however, probate must be granted of Musgrove will. The success of the venture will probably mean a substantial gain for his estate. Jenny Benson at Ambassadors Ernest Kolls is responsible for the really excellent little revue that I noticed with much pleasure at the Ambassadors during the week. Every member is an artist, and the dancing, as in every Rolls show, is perfec:. Jenny Benson, looking slimmer than ■when she appeared in “Clowns in Clover” a few months ago. sang several songs a la cabaret, and handled them admirably, too. The innovation should do much to increase the popularity of the Ambassadors, now com-, pletely restored after the disastrous Are. Cupid On Wheels To travel 68,000 miles by motorcycle, visit 44 countries and then marry a Rose Ray girl, is the record of Dr. P. de Vilnits. of Riga, Latvia, who left for New Zealand with his cycle at the week-end. Good-looking Dagmar Buchardt. of the Eton croc, firm chin and clear blue eves, did not accompany her husband. Eighteen months hence I>r. de Vilnits will return for his bride. He has only 37 more countries to visit and 37,000 more miles to travel. On his arrival hero from China and the East Indies lie was detained in Sydney for several months, having been an accidental witness at a Darlinghurst murder. However, the murderer is now in gaol and Dr. de Vilnits is free to continue his wanderings on his cycle. A Slight Mistake V alter Richardson, the negro singer, engaged for the lead in “Show Boat.” is now- at the Royal singing in support of a talkie. Someone made a little mistake in regard to Richardson, a mistake that is said to have cost J.C.W. a matter of £2,000 in farts and other expenses. When the negro arrived in Australia it was discovered that he was a tenor and not a baritone. Colin Crane got the part he was engaged for. ERIC EAMSDEN.
