FEWER CANDIDATES
VARSITY EXAMINATIONS BEGINNING NOVEMBER 4 Fewer candidates are presenting themselves for examination in degree and diploma subjects this year at the Auckland University College, according to figures supplied by the Rev. P. S. Smallfield, supervisor for Auckland. There will be at this centre 1,245 candidates, as against 1,547 last year. Examinations are to begin on Monday, November 4, and will end on Wednesday, November 20. The hours W’ill be from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. for the morning sittings and from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. A staff of about 30 assistant supervisors will be employed. The candidates are classified as follow:-
Hons and M.A., 35; Hons and M.Sc., 4; Hons and LL.M., 1; M. Com., 1; Senior Scholarship in Law', 2; 8.A.. Stage 111., 72; C.0.P., 6; 8.A., Stage 11., 141; 8.A., Stage 1.. 365: B.Sc., Stage 111., 30; B.Sc., Stage 11., 21; B.Sc., Stage 1., 55; C.0.P., 22; LL.B., 120; Barristers, 49; B. Com., 85; C.0.P., 1; Mus. Bac., first, 5; final, 2; 8.E., Intermediate, 17, First Professional, 12; Second Professional, 9; B.Sc., in Horne Science, 1; Bachelor of Architecture, 58; Bachelor of Forestry Science, 14; Bachelor of Agricultural Science, 5, [Diplomas: Journalism. 26; Education, 4; Social Science, 2; Banking, 52; Insurance, 14. Also Accountancy Professional, 298; Medical Intermediate, 8; Dental Intermediate, 3. There are 40 examination centres in the Dominion, those nearest Auckland being Whangarei, Dargaville, Pukekohe, Hamilton, Waihi and Thames.
