Senior Games Begin Tomorrow Keen Competition Ahead BATS will Hash merrily at Eden Park tomorrow afternoon. when the hrst matches for the season in the Auckland Cricket Association’s senior A grade competition will commence. The main encounter, on the No. 2 wicket at headquarters. will be the clash of last year's competition winners and runners-up. Eden and University, respectively.

The old rivals, Parnell and Fonsonby. will measure it out on the No. 3 wicket at Eden Park, and at Victoria Park United Suburbs and Y.M.C.A. will meet. North Shore will meet the Gr&ftonians on its own heath over the water. \ Most of the teams have maintained or increased their last season’s strength, and in several of the sides new faces will appear. G. T>. Lawrie wins a place in the Eden first eleven, owing to the absence of Ivan Cooper on sick leave. W. Fletcher, from the Suburban Association. and Hunt, formerly of Y.M.C.A., are additions to the strength of Pon- j sonby. There are no new faces in the j Parnell array as yet, but ere the season j is far advanced the club will have the assistance of coach A. F. IVensley. The men across the water have gained R. H. Kelly, formerly University ’keeper, and 13. Reid. Y.M.C.A. will field a lino all - rounder in Innes, from the Suburban Association, and Panther, the former Rodney player. Several new faces will appear for Grafton, among them being S. Wilson and Sheen, who were expected to join up with the Eden Club. C. B. Stone and C. D. Franklin are also newcomers to the strength of the side. So far as is known. United Suburbs will be at its usual strength.

BOWLING CLUBS

CLARK BUTTONS FINAL REMUERA COMPETITION The competition for the Clark buttons held each Wednesday through the winter season was concluded this week. Keen interest was taken by the competing teams and members generally. The green was in splendid order and many keen games resulted. The final game was played by t\\& following rinks: Tomlinson, Edmiston, G. H. Kissling, Russell (holders), Acheson, Ellerbeck, Scott, Daniels (challengers). Daniels gained a lead of 7 in the first three heads but lost the advantage in the next three, Russell scoring a 6,3, 2. Russell, after losing the lead, regained it at 16—15, but could not sustain the effort, Daniels winning by 27 —16. A feature of the game was the accurate driving of Russell, who was responsible for five dead heads. DARGAVILLE CLUB The 1929-30 season of the Dargavillo Bowling Club was opened on Wednesday in beautiful weather in the presence of a record crowd. Mrs. O. Williams threw the first jack, and Mr. Williams, president, declared the season open. He also referred the deaths of Messrs. Edwin Harding and G. N. Hayes, two old and valued members of the club, who had been liberal supporters of the club as far as trophies had been concerned.
