FACTORY ON FIRE

SEVERE DAMAGE TO BUILDING EARLY MORNING CALL In a fire at an early hour this morning, the factory of the "Whitney Window Company, 10 Ngahuru Street, laden Terrace, was badly damaged. From the front of the building, the fire swept through the structure. Only a small stock was held and the loss was principally centred in the factory. The factory was built some years ago and the seasoned timber made the fire a difficult one for the City Brigade to subdue. Excellent work was done to save timber stacked in an adjoining property. Two houses in the vicinity were also exposed to severe heat.
