UNUSUAL TALE FOR BEGGING ALMS HIS 28TH CONVICTION Saying that he was Keenan, s boxer, Henry Charles Sydney Kevey accosted a passerby and demanded 5s last evening. He was given ninepence, but was apparently far from satisfied and further persistence led to his arrest. Kevey, a slaughterman, aged 3S, was charged with being idle and disorderly, having begged alms. “A great big man like that, too,” commented Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. The man admitted that he was idle but denied that he was disorderly or had begged alms. Complainant said that he had called the police after being accosted by accused. He had been frightened as he was carrying £8 10s in notes. Kevey’s explanation was that he could remember nothing of the incident. “He has 27 previous convictions/* added Sub-Inspector McCarthy. The Magistrate: He has 28 now. Sentence of three months’ imprisonment was imposed.
