MT. WELLINGTON ROAD BOARD
Reference was made at the meeting of the Mount Wellington Road Board ■on Tuesday evening to the loss received by the district by the death of Mr. Alfred Hare. The chairman, Mr. George Kay, said that Mr. Hare had been a member of the board for a number of years, and had not spared himself in working for the welfare and progress of the district. During his association with the board, he had endeared himself to all by his unfailing courtesy and his genial and kindly disposition, while his knowledge of matters affecting the board had always been of great assistance. A resolution of condolence with Mrs. Hare was passed by the members of the board.
Relative to a complaint from the secretary of the Mount Wellington Ratepayers’ Association regarding the use of scoria instead of metal on road formation on Tamaki Heights Estate, the clerk was authorised to advise the association that the class of road being formed is better than demanded by the roading conditions. Notice was received from the No. 2 District Highway Council of the gazetting of the Ellerslie-Panmure Road as a main highway.
