ODDFELLOWS' BALL
MATAMATA LODGE ARRANGES BRIGHT EVENING MANY VISITORS ATTEND Festooned with streamers of purple and gold, balloons, flags and greenery, the Matamata Town Hall presented a gay appearance on the occasion of the Oddfellows’ ball on Monday evening. Headed by their energetic secretary, Bro. L. W. Ayling, the committee had spared no pains to make the evening an outstanding success. About 120 couples took the floor to the strains of Shalfoon’s Rotorua orchestra. Representatives of Alorrinsville, Patetere and Te Aroha Lodges were present, as well as Alatamata Druids, together with visitors from Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua and Tauranga. Among those present were: Ale.sdames Underwood, who wore crystal beaded jade georgette; Cliff Taylor, azure blue georgette and french lace; Morrow, crystal beaded ninon over sunset satin; Darragh, powder pink satin and georgett**; AlcKerrow, french lace oyer blue satin; Kneebone. delphinium blue satin and velvet; Alisses Johnston, cornflower blue georgette and deep taffeta hem; Wade, jade green taffeta; Ayers, green foam georgette: Strong, red chiffon velvet; Fussey, black satin and silk net; Howard, chartreuse green georgette; V. Rainger, lime taffeta; Pilkington, wine crepe de chine and floral trimming. Alisses A. Rainger was wearing dawn gold velvet and georgette; Yanko, nile green silk lace and georgette; Geraghty, coral pink georgette and silk net, appliqued in pastel taffeta flowers; Stewart, primrose silk net and delphinium blue taffeta; Vincent, briar rose georgette; DaiTagh, leaf preen panne velvet. Alisses McCardle was in delphinium blue chiffon velvet; Schwarz, cornflower blue panne velvet; Egan, red rosewood and silver shot taffeta; Roberts, deep rose taffeta, tuck ivory, tulle and satin; Brindle, embossed briar rose taffeta; Settle, amber georgette over gold satin; Oates, naples blue georgette; AlcKean, chenille net and apricot satin; Whitworth, floral lace and wistaria georgette; Brown, lilac silk net and lace; Delaney, lemon crepe de chine; Tims, ivory satin and cream lace; Roberts, cherry crepe de chine and silver lace; Marshall, gold tissue and sequined blue georgette. DEVONPORT W.C.T.U. PLEASANT AFTERNOON A \*ery pleasant time was spent by the Devonport W.C.T.U on Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Mine. F* Evans, Hamana Street, who kindly save her home for a drawing room meeting. The president, Mrs. Williams, presided.
Mrs. Lee Cowie gave an inspiring address to a large number of members and friends. Five new members joined the union and one member was received on transfer from Ashburton.
