PERSONAL. —Mr. R. Allison, third officer of the Kaiwarra, has resigned from the service of the Union Company and Mr. A. S. Harrhy has been appointed to succeed him. Mr. H. E. Petre is joining the Ivanna as third officer, relieving Mr. C. F. Gaby, who is transferring to the Kaponga m a similar capacity. Mr. R. Watson has been granted holidays at Wellington. Mr. C. E. B. Carter has been appointed third officer of the Kurow, vice Mr. F. W. Bales, who is transferring to the Kaiapoi in a similar capacity, relieving Mr. A. S. Fergusson for holidays. Mr. F. .T. Cochrane, second officer of the Ngatoro, is joining the Kartigi in a similar capacity, vice Mr. C. .T. Robb, who has relieved • Mr. W. A. Todd as second officer of the Ivaitoke. Captain G. A. Grey is now in command of the Kurow and Captain \v. Whitefield is now in command of the Kartigi. THE PORT BRISBANE.—With cargo from West Coast ports of Great Britain the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Denison is to leave Liverpool on December 7 for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton and Dunedin. THE CITY OF DALHART.—En route from New York to Wellington and Australia, the steamer City of Dalhart is reported to have reached Colon last Monday. She is due at Wellington about November 8. THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER.— The Canadian National steamer Canadian Highlander, which left Auckland for New York, Boston and Montreal on September 6, is reported to have reached New York last Monday. COAL FROM PORT KEMBLA.—Further advice received by* the local office of the Union Company states that the collier Kawatiri is now to leave Port Kembla today with coal for Auckland. She is due here next Wednesday. PORT GISBORNE AT LONDON—News by cable has been received by the C. and J). Line that the Port Gisborne arrived at London on Sunday afternoon from Auckland. She left Auckland on August 27 for London, via New York and Boston. TREGONELL COMlNG.—Advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane states that the Hain Line steamer Tregoiiell left Nauru Island on Tuesday with a full cargo of phosphates for discharge at Auckland. She is due here on October 27. NIAGARA FOR AUCK LA N D—Leaving Sydney this afternoon for Auckland, the Union Company’s R.M.S. Niagara is due here on Monday morning, and is scheduled to sail again at 31 a.m. the following day for Suva, Honolulu, Victoria and Vancouver. PASSENGERS ON MONGOLIA.—RusseII and Somers. Ltd., has received advice that the following passengers lor New Zealand are travelling by the P. and O. liner Mongolia, which is due at Sydney from London today, Mr., Mrs. and Miss Morris, Mr. Lester, Major Xlears. Lieut--Colonel and Mrs. Herbert, Mr. Booth. RANGITIKI LEAVES PANAMA.—The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled news that the liner. Rangitiki arrived at Panama last Friday from London and Southampton, and sailed again on Saturday for Auckland and Wellington. The ship is due at Auckland on November 1. PORT HARDY AT COLON.—Reported to have reached Colon last Monday the Commonwealth and Dominion ’ Line steamer Port Hardy is en route from Liverpool with general merchandise from West Coast ports of Great Britain for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on November 4. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company will act as local agent. lONIC’S PROGRAMME.—L. D. Nathan and Company has been advised that the White Star liner lonic, which is due at V ellington on November 12 from London and Southampton, discharges at Wellington and Lyttelton, thence she loads at Port Chalmers, Bluff, Wellington, probably Napier, and Auckland. She is expected here on December 7 and is scheduled to clear tliis port finally on December 11 for Southampton and London, via Panama.

PORT HARDY LE/WES PANAMA. — Cabled news has been received by the C. and D. Bine that the Port Hardy left Panama last Sunday, en route from Liverpool to Hew Zealand ports. She is due at Auckland on November 4. RIMUTAKA LEAVES COLON. —According to cable advice by the New Zealand Shipping Company the liner Rimutaka arrived at Panama on Friday from Wellington, and left Colon on Saturday for Southampton and London. She sailed from Wellington on September 19. KENT LEAVES LIVERPOOL. —The New Zealand Shipping Company has been notified by cable that the Federal steamer Kent left Liverpool last Saturday afternoon with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. The vessel is due at Auckland on November 20. PIAKO S LOADING PORTS. —The New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Piako, on completion of her discharge at Bluff, will commence loading there for New York, Halifax and- London. She is to load subsequently at Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wellington, Napier and Auckland to fill up, and is to sail finally from Auckland on November

TANKERS DUE.—Several tankers are at present close to New Zealand with cargoes of motor-spirits or fuel-oil. The Union Company’s chartered motor-ship British Glory, which left San Pedro on September 25, is bringing a full cargo of fuel oil to Wellington, where she is due about Sunday.

The Atlantic-Union Oil Company expects the Swedish motor-tanker Gustaf E. Reuter with a full cargo of motorspirit to arrive at Auckland from Los Angeles at 4 a.m. tomorrow. The vessel will proceed, to Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney to complete discharging. The Gustaf E. Reuter was launched July, 1928. at Gothenburg, Sweden, where she is also owned. She is 6,336 tons gross register, 419 feet in length, and 55 feet beam, and has a deadweight capacity of 9,000 tons. She is a twin-screw ship and has two six-cylinder, four-stroke cycle, single-acting oil engines, together developing 2,300 horse-power. The Shell Company’s motor-tanker Spondilus is bringing a full cargo of motor-spirit from the East for ‘Wellington and Auckland. She is due at Wellington about Saturday, and here about October 25. She was built at Rotterdam in 1927, and is a hip of 7,402 tons gross register, 440.4 feet in length and 59.5 feet breadth. She is fitted with a Werkspoor six-cylinder, fourstroke cycle, double-acting oil engine.

The tanker Scopas is due at Auckland about October 23 from Singapore with a part cargo of motor-spirit.
