OFFER OF £5,000 TO HOSPITAL BOARD Aii offer to place the sum of £5,000 at the disposal of the Auckland Hos* nital Board for the purchase of radium for treating cancer has been made by the Health Department, It was stated at the Auckland Hospital Board meeting yesterday that the money had been origirolly given to the Cook Hospital Board, and the suggestion had been made that it be placed at the disposal of the Auckland board, on condition that the board undertook to treat patients from the Cook Hospital district. .. The chairman. Mr. YU. Wallace, sa* the condition imposed might invofi 0 the board in considerable outlay. On his suggestion the question referred to the Finance Committee f° a report.
