PAPATOETOE FINANCES
SATISFACTORY POSITION The balance sheet for the first six months ending September 30, as submitted by the town clerk at last evening’s meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board, was favourably commented upon by the members. Receipts for the period totalled £6,289 10s Bd. The principal items wero general rates £4,992 3s Gd: subsidy on rates, £2 67 Ss 3d; building permits, £lO5. 17s Gd; heavy vehicle and driving licences, £330 16s 3 Id: Highways Board subsidy, £237 3s 4d. Expenditure totalled £5,493 4s lOd. Tlio main items were: Salaries, £221 4s 7d; maintenance, £867 11s Sd. The credit balance was £796 5s lOd. All of the sundry accounts showed credit balances, the total credit b once being £1,313 11s 9d.
The total amount of general rates duo for the year is £9,166 10s. The largo proportion of rates already paid is accounted foi 11 by the fact that 5 per cent, rebate was a! lowed for
