JUBILEE INSTITUTE
AN INQUIRY SUGGESTED
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT TlIFi SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Monday. A recommendation that there should be an inquiry into the administration of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind was made in the House this- evening. The A to L Petitions Committee re-commended-to the Government, for favourable consideration, the petition of Morton Aldis, Auckland, asking for an inquiry into the administration of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind. Mr. G. C. Munns (Roskill) said that Aldis had been secretary to the Blind Institute, and it seemed considerable dissatisfaction existed there. One grievance was that neither the blind nor contributors to the fund had representation on the Board of Governors. There had been a suggestion that the Government should set up a small committee of Auckland members, representing each party, to inquire, during the recess, as to the possibility of an improvement on the lines desired. It was not suggested that a blind person would be placed on the board, but someone who would look after the interests of blind people. Mr. A. Harris (Waitemata) supported ’him.
