LABOUR DAY SPORTS
GATHERING AT PAPAKURA CRACK ATHLETES COMPETING Many of the crack cash runners of the Auckland Province will be seen in action at Prince Edward Park, Papakura, on Monday, October 28, when a labour Day sports meeting is being staged. Exceptionally good prizes are being offered, the 100 yards Sheffield being worth £25 and the 220 yard-s and two miles flat, each worth £ 10. It is expected that such prize money will attract athletes from other centres and already, secretary J. Rea is favoured with a good entry list. The meeting is being run under the Tsorthern Athletic Union’s rules and nominations for all events will close on October 17. Mr. Prank McAneny has been appointed handicapper. The Auckland Artillery Rand will be in attendance and in every way the meeting promises to be most successful. )
