THAMES DEFENCE CLUB From Our Own Correspondent THAMES, Today. The Thames Defence Rifle Club has a balance of £2 10s 9d to start the coming season. During the past season a number of young members joined, and at the annual meeting held last week, several youths from the territorial ranks were accepted as members. There is every prospect of the 1929-30 season being most successful. The Birch Cup, which has been competed for since 1924, was won outright by Mr. R. Cameron with five wins. The Labarre Cups changed hands three times during the past season, Riflemen W. Gilmore. B. Wilson, and A. E. Pearson being the holders. The Miller Cup was also shot three times, Riflemen A. E. Pearson. W. Gilmore, and A. McLean winning it in turn. The Isaac Brown and Johnston trophies were won by Rifleman A. E. Pearson. who also secured the Silver Rooster for the most wins in competitions. Rifleman J. Morrison annexed the Labarre trophy, while Cadet L. Pearson got two legs in fo*y the Birch Cup, but met his 'Waterloo when he faced Cameron in the final shoot. Club trophies were won by Riflemen R. Brown, L. Pearson, A. McLean, and R. Cameron. Tho championship Belt went to A. E. Pearson with 436 points, R. Cameron, 435, was second, and P. Trebilcock third with 410. Officers elected were:—Patron, Mr. W. Bongard; president, Mr. R. Cameron; vice-presidents, the same as previous year; committee, Messrs A. McLean, A. E. Pearson, C. Cameron, P. Trebilcock, R. Cameron, J. Hoole and B. Wilson. The club i%tends sending a team to Waihi to take part in the big shoot on Labour Day.
