"THE MUSIC MASTER"
Tliore are numbers of blackbirds and thrushes near our place, and we have christened one thrush "The Music Master.” Every morning and evening lie may be heard giving singing lessons to the coming thrush generation. lie will whistle a few notes, and keep silence while his pupil repeats them in a shriller, fainter, more uncertain key. If the repetition is unsatisfactory, the Master becomes very excited, and chatters at his" pupil in an annoyed way. Then he patiently whistles the same notes, or different ones, and so the performance goes on. It is most interesting and humorous to listen to. —Jean Mclndoe, ag.ed T 4.
