“GIPSY LOVE”
Hamilton Amateurs Busy Rehearsing (Written for THE SUN) Preparations for the Hamilton Operatic Society’s production of “Gipsy Dove” at the end of next month are now in full swing. Two rehearsals a week are being held and intense enthusiasm is evident among members. Miss Jessie Richards, of Cambridge, has been chosen as leading lady .for the current show, and Mr. R. Jones will play the male lead. Costumes and scenery arrived from Sydney a few days ago. Dast year “High Jinks” filled the Theatre Royal on every night of the week, during which the local society’s show was staged. “Gipsy Dove” is said to be even more colourful, and under the direction of Mr. A. E. Manning is bound to meet with success. Dancing of a particularly high order will characterise the forthcoming play, and some original and effective ensembles are promised by Miss Gladys Denz, the ballet mistress. Mr. E. H. Quill has. the leading’comedy role.
