THE NORTH POLE HOLDS NO TERRORS FOR THEM.—The terrors of the frozen north are emphasised by the catastrophe which overtook 34 of a fleet of 94 fishing vessels which set sail from Norway and were destroyed by the impact of drifting ice off the coast of North-East Spitzbergen. The remaining ships returned recently with a large cargo of polar bears, seals and other northern game. This photograph is the work of Daniel Trautwein who accompanied the expedition and whose photographic work is considered to be the most successful ever accomplished in northern zones. Photograph shows three four-weeks-old seals sunning th emselves on the icebergs in the Arctic region.
