THE DUKE OF YORK Speaks of the Prestige of Poster Advertising Ihe Prince of Wales, at a Royal Academy banquet, referred to hoardings as “ The Art Gallery of the Great Public.” Now, speaking more recently in London, H.R.H. The Duke of York, said: The Hoarding with its posters is a Picture Gallery which is open day and night all the year round, and, as one looks at the large array of designs displayed, one cannot help realising what a tremendous influence they must exercise on the public. The influence may be direct or it may be subtle. It may directly advertise some commercial product, but it may equally help to mould the public taste. So it is of the utmost importance that this gallery should be under the direction of people who are alive to the heavy responsibilities attaching to the management of an instrument which is so potent for public good.” The displays on hosts-dings operated by Messrs. Chandler & Co., Ltd., throughout New Zealand are controlled in a manner quite in keeping with the importance attached to poster displays by His Royal Highness. **> * $ A $ A $ •t s it $ $ •t> it it it it it $ it it it it it £ •t •t •t •t it it it it » it •s> it it it it it it it
