NOTICE TO CLEAR WEEDS

WAS MAYOR MISSED? QUESTION AT OTAHUHU When the noxious weeds inspector’s report was under discussion at last evening’s meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council, Councillor Grey said that the inspector was harassing property owners on the main road, and neglecting to take action in other parts of the district. The Mayor, Mr. T. Clements, expressed the opinion that the inspector was carrying out his duties well, and he thought that proper action was being taken. In answer to Mr. Grey, he said he had not received notice to clear his land, whereupon Mr. Grey wanted to know the reason, because the Mayor also had noxious weeds growing on his property.

The Mayor’s reply was lost in the laughter from those in the gallery.
