Soccer Season Closes

I'ALCON CUP FINAL

Trams v. Manurewa

TOMORROW will be the last Saturday for Soccer at Blandford Park, tv hen the Falcon Cup final between Trams and Manurewa should provide one of the toughest knockouts of the season. Tlie champions will be hard pur to withstand their vigorous young opponents, and a lively clash is certain for the major trophy. The knockout final between Shore and Comrades’ fourth teams should provide a bright and clever curtain-raiser.

Trams expect to be at full strength tomorrow with Simpson returning to lead them. They are determined to repeat last year’s record of winning both the championship and the Falcon Cup. Manurewa has been showing splendid form in recent knock-outs, and its meritorious win over Y.AI.C.A. last Saturday gives it a great chance for the cup. The suburban side is very strong in both defence and attack, and the bustling methods of the colts may upset the more studied play of the senior champions. It will be a contest for the champion of champions’ supremacy, as Trams won the senior A competition without a loss, and Manurewa cleaned up the senior B championship. The fourth grade final between Shore and Comrades will be a close bout between two clever teams, who have already met

twice with the narrowest of margins separating them at the finish. The final curtain will be rung down on Sctecer on Wednesday evening, when Thistle and Manurewa meet in the floodlight, and the trophies for the season will be presented to the winning clubs. Senior Grade Manurewa.—Parks, A. Ronald son, Ross, Brown, Bees, Clark. Anderson, Williamson, Palmer, Hart, H. Donaldson. Third Grade Technical Old Boys.—P. Farrow. W. Rodwell, A. A'oble, X. Roper, H. Lott, F. Roper, D. Munro, G. O’Leary. A. Burford, T. Ashworth, K. Marlow, H. Burford, C. McDonald. New Lynn.—Heap, Lithgow, Moore, Darby, Munro, Gregory, W. K. Munro, T. Carr, Galloway, Armstrong, J. Carr. Reserves: Simpson, Jamieson.
