THIEVES’ £2,700 HAUL

SYDNEY SAFE-BREAKERS IN BANK LEDGERS CHARRED BY GAS Reed. 9.55 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. On the return of the manager to the Newtown branch of the Commercial Bank ot Australia, it was found that the sum stolen by safe-breakers during the week-end was £2,700. The heat generated by the oxy-aeetylene gas which was used in cutting open the hack of the safe was so great that the ledgers inside were charred.
