McKenzie, of Gundagai, New South Wales, and Miss Reeves Palmer, of Egypt, are staying at the Hotel Stonehurst. Mrs. A. M. Lewis, of Remuera, left by the Niagara on a holiday trip to Sydney. She expects to be away about three months. * * * Miss Allen, of the Auckland Hospital staff, is spending a holiday with Mrs. J. W. Clark, of Kcreone Road, Morrinsville. Mrs. Ronald Laing, of Ruawai, Northern Wairoa, is staying at “Highdene,” Mangere Bridge, with her sister, Mrs. A. E. Trayes. * * * A New South Wales visitor to Auckland is Mrs. E. R. Marmont, of Crookwell. She is staying at Hotel Stonehurst. ENGAGEMENTS The engagement is announced of Dorothy, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. IT. L. Tanered, late of Weens, Roxburghshire, Scotland. to Gilbert, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Vallance Webb, Sussex, England. The engagement is announced of Gertrude Leonore, second daughter of Mr. G. M. Kirkcaldy and the late Mrs. Kirkcaldy, of Wairiki Road, Mount Eden, to John Phillip, only son of Mr. and Mrs. John Caisley, Walters Road, Mount Albert. WAIKATO NOTES Mrs. R. English has returned to Hamilton from a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. J. CROQUET CLUB OPENING On Saturday afternoon the Ngaruawahia Croquet Club had a very enjoyable opening day. The weather was perfect and the lawns keen. Many visitors came from neighbouring clubs. Progressive and target croquet was played, the successful players being of the Progressive A—Mrs.. Hodgkinson (Whitiora), B, Mrs. Mason (Frankton); target, Mrs. Wizzell (Frankton); and Mrs. Hall (Horotiu). * * * CAMBRIDGE PARTY On Friday afternoon Mrs. Hopkirk gave a most enjoyable afternoon at her home in Cambridge. Mrs. Hopkirk was wearing a smart frock of navy and fawn crepe de chine. The rooms were gay with polyanthus, daffodils and Iceland poppies. The guests were:—Mrs. E. B. Cox, Mrs. Porritt, Mrs. J.
