FALSE FIRE ALARM

BRIGADE CALLED FROM DANCE MOTOR-CARS DAMAGED From Our Own Correspondent OPOTIKI, Today. Since the installation of the new fire-alarm system in Opotiki there have been many false alarms. Last night some person set the alarm going during the progress of the Are brigade’s mask cabaret. Two taxis, which were standing outside the theatre and -which it was evidently thought would be used by members of the brigade were also tampered with. A broken bottle was placed ; under the wheel of one taxi, which | was required before the alarm was j given, and as soon as the taxi moved j forw-ard the tyre was practically- cut j in half. | One of the tyres of the other taxi had been deflated. The box where i the alarm was given was seriously damaged.
