TALKIES AT THE CAPITOL
COMMENCING THIS EVENING The popular Capitol Theatre in Dominion Road is the latest suburban theatre to “so talkie.” One of the latest Western Electric talking equipments has been installed, and a full talkie programme will be presented this evening. The initial talkie programme will be headed by that fine all-talking production “Speakeasy,” starring Kola Kane and Paul Page. “Speakeasy” is a novelty in films because it introduces to the cinema-public throughout the world the sporting life of New York, in boxing, racing and so on. As a talking film, however, it is even more a success for the very sounds of New York daily life have been caught and are faithfully recorded. An interesting dramatic and romantic story runs through the production. This evening’s programme will also include a number of short-talkie features, including a two-reel all-talk-ing comedy, making in all a first-class entertainment.
