4YA, DUNEDIN
NEW TRANSMITTING PLANT REOPENING NEXT WEEK The erection oC the new transmitting plant and equipment at 4YA Dunedin is nearly com pleted, and the official opening of tJ le new studio will take place next Wfcdnesday evening. To enable the final adjustments and change-over to bo made the present station will be cid'sed from Saturday evening until the reopening on Wednesday at S p.m. I The opening caremony will be performed by the Postmaster-General, the Hon. J. B. Donato. If he cannot attend he will speak on relay from Wellington. An exceilltent programme has been arranged, inc luding bagpipe selections by sixteen IHighlanders. The power of the new station has not been announced, but it is believed that it will be rthe same as that of Auckland and Christchurch. If this is the case, AucfiUmd listeners should have no difficult}* in receiving the station. At one time 4TA was the best station on the air, especially at the time of the Dunedin Exhibition, when the excellent progtfflmmes given by the band of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders was greatly enjoyed by many Aucklanders. When the change of waive-length took place, however, Dunedfin, except for those with powerful stets, went off the map so far as Auckland was concerned. 1 The opening dC the new station will be awaited with interest by Auck- ■ land listeners, as the calibre of performers in the city is very high, and excellent programmes can be expected. !
