NORTHCOTE BOROUGH COUNCIL
The Northcote Borough Council met J-iat evening, the Mayor, Mr. A. L. Grcenslade, presiding. In connection with the discharging of passengers at the wharf, it was agreed that the Licensing Authority should require the buses to approach the wharf head-on between 7 a.in. and 3 a.m.. and between G p.m. and 8 p.m., ».n week days, and that this system should be given a trial i'or six months. The Devon port Ferry Company advised that a night launch would leave Auckland on Sundays at 12.30 a.m., Northcote at 12.40 a.m., and Birkenhead at 12.45 a.m., and when required would leave Auckland for Northcote and Birkenhead at 2.45 a.m. From Monday to Friday, inclusive, a launch would run from Auckland to Northcote only, at 1 45 a.m., but would not do so unless required. It was decided to appoint delegates If a conference is held to discuss amalgamation of the four North Shore boroughs. The council resolved that it could not support a suggestion that the North Shore Water Board should seek legislative authority for extended powers to enable it to control the major public services, including water, drainage, refuse disposal and transport on the North Shore.
