URGENCY GRANTED
BUSINESS OF THE HOUSE A BRIEF PASSAGE THE SUE'S Parliamentary Reported PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Tuesday. There was some dissent and critJ> cism this afternoon when the ActingLeader of the House, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, asked for urgency for the Land Laws Amendment Bill committee stages. He said that it was not desired to sit all night, but the Government wanted more elasticity with regard to the Standing Orders. The Leader of the Opposition (the Right Hon. J. G. Coates): Are you going to sit all night? Breaking down your own standing orders! Mr. Forbes reiterated that he did not desire to sit all night. He did not think the discussion would take as long as that. It could be decided later on whether it would be necessary to take another night for the Bill. "Put up your umbrella after it starts to raiu,” was Mr. Coates’s retort. Mr. Forbes maintained that if urgency were not obtained, the House would have to rise automatically at 10.30. Urgency was granted.
