YOUNG “HIGHWAYMEN”

GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S CAR HELD UP SCHOOL-CHILDREN’S RUSE Press Association BLENHEIM, Today. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral and the Lady Alice Fergusson arrived at Blenheim last evening on their farewell tour of the Dominion on the way from Havelock. (The Vice-Regal car found an obstruction on the line at the Okaramio Sphool, where the children had stretched a rope entwined with native grass across the highway, which brought the car to a halt.

i The ingenious young highwaymen induced their Excellencies to alight aid listen to an address of welcome from the chairman of the school committee.

Sir Charles acknowledged their felicitations and a small pupil presented the Lady Alice with a bouquet of native clematis, which particularly pleased her Excellency. This morning the party is out on a tour of various schools.
