ON TWO WHEELS
1 LONG TEST ARRANGED -456 MILE RELIABILITY TRIAL SPORTS CLUB FIXTURE s I The route has been selected finally ; lor the Sports Motor-cycle Club's 456- | mile reliability run during the Labour Day week-end. A large number of | entries has already been received and I there is every indication of a successful outing. ! The route is a good deal longer than | that usually taken in club runs but j will be over good roads and no trouble |is anticipated. Various checks, both ; secret and open, have been arranged, j and tests will be imposed. Only a close | observation of the rules will prevent a i loss of points. j The riders will be sent off on Sat* I urday, October 26, shortly after one o’clock, and will proceed via Mercer | and Hamilton to Te Awamutu. where the first night check will have to be passed. The route for Sunday vrill lead through Arapuni, Putaruru and Atiamuri to Taupo, where a stop will be made for lunch. Uotorua and Te Puke will be passed on the way to Tauranga, the second night check. After crossing via the Kaimai to Matamata, riders will proceed to Morrinsville for lunch, then continuing •through Orini, Taupiri, and Mercer to Auckland. Competitors w ill check in j as they arrive back in town later on j Labour Day. CLUB RUN TO MURIWAI GOOD OUTING ON SUNDAY More than 50 riders turned out on | Sunday for the Sports Motor-cycle Club’s run to Muriwai. The road is reported to be in good order except for a section of clay past Kumeu, which is rather rough. Little running was done on the beach as a midday tide had left the sand too wet for more than fast touring speeds. The party included a good number from the Ladies’ Progressive Motorcycle Club and a few- riders from the North Shore body. Beach races at Muriwai early in November are proposed by the Sports Motor-cycle Club.
