MIXED LUCK

THERE was some trouble shortly -** after the start of the sprint yesterday at Ellerslie, High Finance, a fancied runner, getting chopped back. At the subsequent “inquest.” the stewards found that the blame was attachable to the apprentice rider, C. Davis, and the result was that this horseman was suspended for a fortnight. The decision was not arrived at until after the following race, the principal handicap, had been decided, and Davis had ridden the winner, Hunting Cry. It was a good one to get in before being told to take a rest from race riding for a fortnight.
