ANXIETY EXPRESSED BY PRESBYTERY COMMITTEE TO INQUIRE Concern regarding the future of Si Andrew's Presbyterian Church was expressed at a meeting of the Auckland Presbytery at Belmont this morning. ‘•The charge has been vacant for | over a year now," said the Rev. He ex- j plained that the selection committee j had great difficulty in finding" a suit- J able man willing to fill the vacancy, j The Rev. lvo Bertram had been acting as supply for several months and would continue as such until the end , of January. On the motion of the Rev. L. H. Hunt, seconded by the Rev. P. J. Wainwriglit, a committee of assessors ;• was appointed to confer with the interim moderator and the selection . committee with regard to filling the : vacancy. Tne personnel will be the , Revs. Geo. Budd, W. J. Comrie and ; T. H. Roseveare, and Messrs. E. W. Burch and J. S. Fairgray. Attention was drawn by the Rev. J Geo. Budd. superintendent of Home Missions, to the large number of j vacancies in the presbytery. He j moved that reports on each vacancy be submitted by moderators at fre- ! quent intervals. The Rev. P. J. Wainwriglit, moderator of Avondale charge, stated that | it is proposed to engage a supply for ; j a period of six months to tide over : the holiday season. A call to the Rev. J. H. Bredin, of Palmerston North, was decided on unanimously at a meeting of the j Papatoetoe Church last evening, said the Rev. T. H. Roseveare, moderator ; of that chargeOther vacancies are Somervell ; Memorial Church, St. Peter's and ■ Helensville.
