RATIONALIST LECTURE
SCREENING OF “CHANG” Another mil house favoured the entertainment presented by the New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Rationalism, at the Majestic Theatre last evening. An address on “Evolution, Social and Organic,’’’ was given by Mr. E. B. J. Allen, who drew attention to the change in all things, and instanced the evolution of the horse in the organic world.' lie traced its continuous evolution hack to the Eocene period, when the Eohippus flourished in New Mexico. Turning to the origin of social conditions, the lecturer said that as the struggle for existence was one of the greatest factors in organic evolution, so was the evolution of all social laws, customs and religions likewise governed by laws. The evolution of tools was the primary cause of the changes in social relationship Following the lecture a moving picture programme was screened, the chief feature of which was “Chang.” the famous animal picture filmed in Siam.
