DAVIS DEFEATS NEWMAN Australian and N.Z. Press Association LONDON, Saturday. In the billiards match, Davis v. Newman, the former, with a score of 16,591, won. Newman's score was 16,264. WOMEN’S HOCKEY SEASON NEARING END Papatoetoe defeated Wesley in the semi-final for the women’s hockey competition for the Bernecker Cup at Remuera on Saturday. The final score was 2—l. The scores for Papatoetoe were registered by Miss O’Hara, and Wesley’s goal came from the stick of Miss Farland. The final will be played nest Saturday between Technical A, which holds the trophy, and Papatoetoe. Although the senior grade competition has been concluded the season will not close until next Saturday, when a team from Waihi will play the Mount Eden girls* team.
