TIVOLI
“LOOPING THE LOOP” Easily the most entertaining picture dealing with circus life ever produced is now being presented at the Tivoli Theatre. It is entitled “Looping the hoop,” and stars several well-known Continental players, including Werner Krauss, Warwick Ward and Jenny Jugo. It is the story of a clown, who, because of his profession, is indifferent to the charms of women, but when absent from the glamour of the sawdust and spangles, poses as an engineer. He meets a girl who lias been turned down by a trapeze artist in the tircus, and falls in love with her. It is n <>t until after the girl meets her old flattie again and finds out his real character that she realises her love for the “engineer.” But the real climax is brought about 'vhen she finds that the clown whom had laughed at nnd her hero are one and the same. This picture was directed for TJ.F.A. by Dr. Arthur Robinson.
Laura La Plante is the star of the him “Scandal,” which is the second feature on the programme. The parp is that of a sophisticated Santa Bar£ bara society woman and gives her an opportunity to portray great emotional depths Others in the picture, which is un adaptation of a magazine story ay Rogers St. Johns, arc Huntlv Gordon, John Holes, Jane Winton, -Nancy Dover.
