WORK AT OTAHUHU
GRASS TRACK IN DEMAND i WEEK-END ACTIVITIES Owners and trainers are in clover again at Otahuhu, as the grass circuit is: available on certain 1 days, and during the week-end the bulk of the work was underj taken on the course proper. Caretaker Jack Sommers has the suburban tracks in fine order. T. Roe’s pair of square-gaiters, Gold Sovereign and Petersen, gave sound displays over the distance of the main trotting event at Claudclands, and j without putting up anything startling ! in the way of time, the work out was satisfactory .- * * * Twelve furlongs was the allotment for Tony Victor and Polly’s Picture, both pacing smartly, although the latter was not able to foot it at the finish with, the Antonio gelding. Great Ballin, with owner Garth Robertson in the sulky, traversed a similar distance at a good clip without being on a time making mission. The ; son of Ballin is -coming along nicely, but will not be ready for some time yet. S. August put in an appearance with Rockburn, who was given strong work. The Thames Cup winner gives the impression he will be all the better for a race or two. Respect in Work Again Haroto bowled along freely over: a medium distance for F. Mills. The old pacer appears in good heart, but is not improving as regards speed. Mills is also attempting to round the old* Gold Bell gelding Respect into shape. T. Grimmond gave Master Huia useful exercise and the half brother to Lady Dunmore shaped in a manner that suggests he is coming back to his best form again. Sid Groat's team, Horizon, Silver Link,. Black Ballin. Floraline and Queen’s Bond, are all in good heart, and moved along resolutely in their different tasks, none of which was undertaken with a view fully to testing their ability. Queen's Bond, a handsome filly by Worthy Bond from Logan. Queen, has furnished well, and moves along sweetly in her work.
