CHIEF RULER LEADS

The owner of the Westmere (Wanganui) stud, Mr. John Donald. was a delighted man on Saturday. Eaglet. the Great Northern Guineas winner, was got by The Tetrarch horse, Chief Ruler. This made the filly's fifth consecutive win this season. Then both the winner and runner-up in the Welcome Stakes, Royal Ruler and Chief Link, are sons of Chief Ruler, and so, with Polyxena placed third in the sprint and Leader fourth in the Guineas, the progeny of the Westmere sire had something in the nature of a field day. Two firsts, a second, a third and a fourth in seven starts on Saturday, collecting ,-£2,025 in stakes, was the record of the seven representatives of Chief Ruler seen out at Ellerslie on Saturday. Chief Ruler is a half-brother to Absurd, and he seems to be getting stock every bit as fast, and, what is much more important, getting more solid and consistent performers.
