SEVENTEEN PLANES started from Sydney last Monday morning in the 2,400-mile air race to Perth, one of the longest races cf its kind ever contested. The airmen reached Perth on Saturday afternoon, H. Miller winning the £l,ooo prize. Major de Havillnd put up the fastest time. His average speed over the route (which is shown above)was 105 miles an hour.
