VALUELESS CHEQUE FRAUD

MAN FINED £3 From Our Oivn Correspondent WHANGAREI, Today. In the Hikurangi Police Court before Messrs T. Shore and E. Richard, j.i . s, Maurice Luke was charged with issuing a, valueless cheque, also false pretences. Evidence showed that accused closed his account with the Bank of In ew Zealand about five years ago, but recently presented a cheque on that bank for £2 10s to the Farmers’ Trading Company, Hikurangi, and Yeceived goods to the value of 15s and the remainder in cash. He was fined £3, in default 14 days’ imprisonment. He had previously made restitution of the amount of the cheque.
