MONEY ORDER DEAD
1 FOLLOWING on a great six furlongs track trial with Rapier I at Riccarton on Thursday. the | Paper Money gelding Money Order I contracted a severe illness and at j 5.40 the same evening, died in his stall at T. H. Gillett’s stable, j After galloping in the early morning there seemed to be nothing amiss with the horse, but dur-
ing walking exercise in the forenoon it was evident that Money Order was suffering great pain. He was taken back to the stable, and as he showed no signs of improvement veterinary surgeons Messrs. Andrews and Martin were called in to diagnose the trouble. But Money Order’s malady was of such a serious nature that he died in the evening. Money Order was a very brilliant galloper. Early in his career he won the Dunedin Guineas. He was operated on a short time ago for respiratory trouble, and judging by his recent brilliant efforts on the track it certainly seemed as if he was getting back to his previous good form.
