THOUSANDS CLAIMED
CROP OF ACTIONS ARISE OUT OF ELECTIONS NEWSPAPER SUED SYDNEY, Thursday. Supreme Court writs arising out of the Federal election campaign were issued today. One was on behalf of Union Theatres, Limited, against the “Sydney Morning Herald,” claiming £IO,OOO damages for alleged libel. The other writs were in respect of claims for £5,000 damages for alleged slander against Archdale Parkhill, Nationalist candidate for Warringah, Arthur Manning, Nationalist candidate for Wentworth, and H. W. Horsfield, general secretary to the Nationalist Association.
