£115,000 DRAINAGE LOAN

WORKS IN AVONDALE AND THE CITY APPLICATION APPROVED The original loan proposals for drainage works in the city and in Avondale have been enlarged to involve a sum of £115,000. Application is to be made to tlie Local Government Loans Board for sanction to raise the amount, the City Council decided last evening. in his report, the acting-city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, said alterations in the city works had increased the original sum in view, £25,146, to £29,000, and, In the Avondale works, the original amount of £61,500 had been enlarged to £ 50,300. The cost of raising the loan would be £5,700. The main items of expenditure listed in the Avondale scheme were £15,250 on the Rosebank Road area. £14.315 on the Waterview area, and £21.640 for the main sewer extension to Puriri Street. Puriri Street area tlso required an estimate of £6,400, and Mackay Street area, £5,230. . In the city works, the chief items were £6.250 for the main drainage in Mount Eden and Mount Albert and the St. Leonard's Road pumping area, anil £5.500 for the extension of stormwater culverts from Cox’s Creek to iLchnwad Road. _
