FINAL FROM HEADQUARTERS
It was an oIT morning at Ellerslie today, but with late arrivals appearing, number two grass track was placed at trainers’ disposal. The going was conducive to fast times. Havering worked usefully over five furlongs, and was not extended at any stage. He is a greatly improved horse and can be expected to acquit himself well in his engagements. In the matter of condition he should have it on a lot of them for he has been busily engaged during the winter. Ah Wera and The Lamb were paired once round in 1.48. their last half-mile taking 55 1-5. There was little between them at the end. but The Lamb did it nicely. For seven furlongs Talisker and Vertigern were together, and they could have improved on 1.31 had it been required. The initial two furlongs were cut out in 26, and three in High Pitch had Foxhound to accompany him in a gallop over five furlongs. They continued round to
the peg, and got over the initial fur\onsin 12 2-5, and the full journey in ,1° ♦”°* x- T ligh I>itch finished with plenty of dash and was a few lengths to the good at the post.
