PERSONAL. —Captain F. J. G. Warren has been appointed to command the Kaitangata, relieving Captain E. J. MoClellan, who is awaiting: instructions at Wellington. Captain J. L. Brisco, of the Kowhai, has been granted holidays, and Captain E. J. C. Gibson is now in command of the vessel. Mr. C. If. M. Long: has joined the Donah as chief officer, vice Mr. A. T'. Adam, who is to join the Manuka in a similar capacity at Melbourne this trip. Mr. M. R. Tregale is now chief officer of the Kawatiri, having relieved Mr. F. G. Mabb for holidays. Mr. H. If. Pike has been appointed second officer of the Waipiata, relieving Mr. It. Blampied for orders. Mr. It. B. Steere has joined the Maheno as third officer, relieving Mr. A. J. Herbert for holidays. Mr. S. J-f. Crawford is joining the Iviwitea as third officer at Sydney this week, vice Mr. V. Miller, who will go on holidays. PORT DARWIN FROM TizZW YORK. —The Commonwealth and Dominion Line advises that the Port Darwin is to sail from New York for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin during the second half of October. PORT GISBORNE AT BOSTON.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line motor-ship Port Gisborne, which left Auckland for New York, Boston, Halifax and London on August 27. Is reported to have reached Boston last Tuesday. lONIC FROM HOME. —With cargo from London, the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner lonic is to clear Southampton for New Zealand tomorrow. She is due at Wellington on November 11 to land passengers and mail, the cargo being for Lyttelton, Port Chalmers and Bluff. TAHITI FROM SAN FRANCISCO.— The Royal Mail liner Tahiti left San Francisco yesterday with passengers, mail and cargo for Papeete, Rarotonga, Wellington and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on October 21, and at Sydney on October 26. « MAI MO A FROM LONDON. —The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the Maimoa is to leave London on October 9 with general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington and Napier. The vessel is due at Auckland on November 16. KAIRANGA RETURNS TO PORT.— The x Union Company's cargo steamer Kairanga sailed for Gladstone, Queensland, at 5.30 last evening, but after reaching the Hauraki Gulf she returned to port at 10.45 owing to an accident to one of the firemen. He was replaced and the vessel sailed again at 12.45 this morning. NORFOLK CLEARED CURACAO.— From Curacao the Federal Line steamer Norfolk is reported to have sailed last Monday in continuation of her voyage from Liverpool to Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, Tiraaru and Port Chalmers. She is due at Auckland on October 23. KENT FROM LIV E RPOOL.— With general merchandise from West Coast ports of Great Britain the Federal Line steamer Kent is to saiL from Liverpool for Auckland, ‘Wellington, Lyttelton and Port Chalmers on October 12. She is due at Auckland on November 19. The New Zealand Shipping Company is the local agent. KARAMEA TO COMPLETE.— Advice received by L. D. Nathan and Company states that the Shaw. Savill and Albion Company's motor-ship Karamea left Wellington at 4.45 p.m. yesterday for Auckland, where she is due about midday tomorrow to complete her loading for Home. She will berth at the Queen's? Wharf, and at daybreak on Tuesday will be dispatched for London, Avonmouth. Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama.

SAGAMA RIVER FOR BUNKERS.— Henderson and Macfarlane received advice this morning that the steamer Sag-* ama River left Wanganui this morning for Westport, where she bunkers before proceeding to Queensland to load for Home. GOLDEN WEST COMING. —CabIe advice lias been received by I-lenderson and Macfarlane that the O. and O. Line's steamer Golden West left Los Angeles on October 1 with Pacific Coast cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Timaru. She is due here on October 27. CORINTHIC LEAVES BALBOA. - Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company that the liner Corinthic left Balboa on Sunday evening for Wellington and Auckland, en route from London and Southampton. The vessel is due at Wellington' on October 22. MATOPPO REPORTS. —According to a radio message received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the A. and A. Line’s steamer Matoppo is expected to arrive at Auckland at noon on Sunday from New York. Besides discharging at Auckland, the vessel will unload at Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru and Dunedin. PORT VICTOR AT NEW PLYMOUTH. —Due at New Plymouth today from Port Chalmers, the C. and D. Line's steamer' Port Victor later proceeds to Auckland for loading. She is due here on Sunday and is scheduled to sail again the following day for Australian ports, to fill up for Genoa and England. Heather, Roberton, Limited, will act as the local agents. PIAKO IN PORT.— With West of England cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton. Dunedin and Bluff, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Piako arrives in the stream at | Auckland early this afternoon from j Liverpool. After pratique has been j granted, the vessel will berth at the Con- i tral Wharf to unload the local portion ] of her cargo. ROTORUA LOADING. —The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Rotorua leaves Timaru today for Lyttelton and Auckland to continue her loading. She is due here next Tuesday, and sails again two days later for Wellington, where she completes her loading, and finally clears on October 14 for Southampton and London, via Panama. PLUME ARRIVING TONIGHT. —Latest radio advice from the tanker Plume, inward bound from San Francisco with a cargo of motor spirit for the Vacuum Oil Company, states that she expects to reach Auckland at 9 o’clock tonight. The vessel will berth at Western Wharf to put out the local portion of her cargo and is to sail p.m. Saturday for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete discharging. REMUERA'S PROGRAMME. —Due at Auckland on Monday from Southampton and London, the New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera will land passengers, mails and cargo here before proceeding to Wellington to complete discharge. Later she loads in the following order of ports for Home: New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Auckland, Wellington and Napier, and is scheduled to clear Napier finally on November 9 for Southampton, London, Avonmouth. Glasgow and Liverpool, via Panama. The Remuera has been allotted a berth at the Queen’s Wharf.
