“MISREPRESENTED”
ATTACK ON TRANSPORT BOARD A DEPUTATION’S VIEWS Strong exception was taken by Cr. R. T. Michaels at a meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council last evening to what was termed-“wilful misrepresentation” on the part of the Auckland Transport Board. In July last a deputation from the council waited on the board to urge the importance of moving the tramstop at the corner of Mountain Road and Khyber Pass hack again to the north side of the intersection. The hindrance to traffic wishing to enter Park Road, urged at the time, has since been borne out by a tally taken by the Auckland Automobile Association. In a letter in reply to a resident, who also stated the case for moving the tram-stop northwards, the Transport Board stated that the council’s deputation was quite satisfied with the present arrangements. Cr. Michaels suggested that a letter pointing out the true position be sent to the board, and the town clerk was instructed accordingly. It was pointed" out that no reply to the deputation’s suggestions had yet been received, and the council decided to ask the board for information on the point.
