CLUBS’ ANNUAL MEETINGS
AUCKLAND CLUB At the annual meeting of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Club, Mr. R. S. Burt presided over a large attendance of members. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr. R. S. Burt; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. Coldicutt, Burton, Osmonds, Scantlebury and Finlay; secretary, Mr. C. Fletcher-Jones; treassurer, Mr. R. PI. Jones; ground superintendent, Mr. 11. Curtis; delegates to association, Messrs. R. S. Burt and C. P’letcher-Jones; auditor, Mr. R. A. Gardiner; general committee, Mrs. McCarthy, Messrs. Plosking, Reynolds, Elder and Gardiner; women’s committee, Mesdames McCarthy. Burton, Misses Schischka, Campbell, Newton and Ilacket. The president.presented the trophies to th© winners of the club competitions as follow: —Women’s championship singles, Miss A. McClymont; combined doubles, Miss A. McClymont and Mr. Sternberg: men’s championship singles, Air. Whittaker; men’s championship doubles, Air. A. ,T. Shackall and Air. Elder; men’s handicap singles, Air. IT. Curtis. The president pointed out that the club had again acquired the use of part of th© Auckland Association’s courts in Stanley Street, and he drew the attention of the members to the fact that the club courts were the most centrally situated in Auckland. The club was still in a position to receive applications for membership. ROTORUA CLUB At the annual meeting of the Rotorua Lawn Tennis Club, the president, Dr. S. H. Ilay, commented on the excellent state of the club’s finances, which showed a credit balance of £l3O. Ho complimented the secretary on his management last year in showing a profit for the season of over £SO. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Dr. S. 11. Play; president, Air. R. G. Bennett; vice-presidents, Judge Holland, Air. AI. H. Plampson, Mr. Kirk and Air. W. McLean; club captain, Air. W. C. I. Sumner; vice-captain, Air. X. Smith; committee, Alessrs. Fraser, Dannefaerd, Royal, Foggin and Simmonds; Airs. Bennett, Airs. Sheriff, Aliss Cooney; lion, secretary and treassurer, Air. G. McDowell; assistant-sec-retary, Aliss O. Dawson; lion, auditor, Air. L. J. Brooker. On the motion of All*. X. Smith, seconded by Dr. Hay, an honorarium of £5 5s was voted to Air. L. J. Brooker, the retiring secretary, by whose untiring efforts the club has been placed on such a firm foundation. The probable opening date is November 2. FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION The Franklin .Lawn Tennis Association has decided to start its annual competitions, for clubs affiliated to tlie association, on November 16. Entries close on November 4. The association’s officers for the season are: Patron, Air. A. Park llornc; president, Air. AI. fcS. Campbell; vicei presidents, Messrs. fc>. C. Schofield, R J. Glasgow and R. X. Johnson; secretary and treasurer. Mr. W. F. Porter; Management Committee, Alessrs. Campbell, Porter and C. Morrin; delegates to Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, Messrs. G. Allen, A. Sclilaepfer and Porter; Selection Committee, Alessrs. Johnson, Alorrin and B. Keary; auditor. Air. W. E. Richards.
