MISS KAY ONE UP
FIRST 18 HOLES OF FINAL WOMEN’S GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. At the end of the first IS holes in the final of the Women’s Ciolf Championship being played in Christchurch today Miss Kay was one up on Mrs. Dodgshun. Mrs. Dodgshun and Miss Kay started the final in perfect weather. So far the match has been a splendid one with Miss Kay leading all the way, but never by more than 2 up. Mrs. Dodgshun was 2 down after the 16th hole but took the next and barely missed squaring the match at the 18th hole where she lipped the hole with a 15 foot putt. The play was good, though the figures do not compare with those of Miss Kay in the previous matches. Miss Kay was slightly superior off the tee, and with her seconds, but round the greens play was even. Both were making their short approaches fairly well, but a lot of putts were missed from distances which should not have caused champions undue trouble. The importance of the occasion and the presence of a gallery of close on 300 possibly had some bad effect. AUCKLAND WINS TEAMS’ MATCH Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday.
