HAURAKI PLAINS NOTES
The petition of the WaitakaPuruPipiroa Road settlers asking for the establishment of a rural mail delivery service from the Waitakaruru Post Office as far as Dalgety’s Corner, was sent forward last week. It is expected that the delivery- will be made late in the afternoon. * * * The Kaihere soldier settlers, who were recently- moved to new farms on the Kerepeehi block, are faced with a serious shortage of drinking tvater for their cows, and are now discussing a co-operative pumping scheme from the Piako River or the Dlstow Canal.
So far there has been little movement in cricket circles on Hauraki Plains, and as yet only- two clubs have he’d their annual meetings. There is no foundation for the rumour of the formation of a new club at "Kerepeehi. as the cricket enthusiasts.of that centre realise that their numbers are insufficient to warrant the preparation of a pitch.
