BELLS FOR CATHEDRAL

HAMILTON BEQUEST

From Our Oic-n Correspondent HAMILTON, Today

Under the will of the late Miss Annie McPherson, the Chapter of St. Peter’s Cathedral was bequeathed £2,500 for a bell and choir vestry.

The chapter is desirous of purchasing a peal of bells with the money, for which a tower would have to be erected. As this proposal does not comply strictly with the terms of the donor’s will it is possible the legatees may seek permission to vary clauses in question at the Supreme Court. Speaking at St. Peter’s sale of work this morning Bishop Clierrington said a decision should be reached soon, but not before careful examination of the position. He strongly urged the erection of a permanent tower, not a temporary structure.
